Chapter Twenty

FROM ASHES TO FIRE ON MALDEC

Sen Dar began to regain awareness, and he slowly started to get up, but stopped as he saw a pair of black boots walk up to him. He looked up to see an even larger blue-skinned hairy alien with a very muscular chest and arms arrogantly smiling down at him. He was dressed in a General’s uniform made of smooth dark leather, belted at the waist. He was a foot taller than his two Guards, and more massive. Yet, the top of his forehead protruded with the same finger sized bones sticking upward from his brow like a fan. He was standing in front of a highly polished desk made from various exotic woods. The walls behind him were covered with arrows, spears, arrow-tipped air guns, and other items of exotic weaponry. The two guards, Lagrar and Glag, humbly bowed before their intimidating leader.

“Oh most supreme Gorn, ruler of the lands of Zeth,” stated Lagrar very respectfully, “we found him on the path below the palace carrying these things.”

Lagrar handed Gorn the laser gun, and then the chained crystal, and Glag handed him The Ancient One’s map. Gorn took them, eyed the laser gun with great curiosity. Then he set the gun, the crystal, and the map on the desk behind him.

Staring angrily at Sen Dar, he said with much gusto, “So, those two animals overseas sent you to kill me. I am Gorn, the supreme ruler of the lands of Zeth, and they will both bow to me before I am done with them.”

Gorn accusingly pointed his finger at Sen Dar, and gleefully yelled, “You, spy, will regret coming here. Execute him immediately.”

Sen Dar’s eyes widened with terror; but he instantly regained control of himself with a sudden devious thought and pleadingly shouted, “Wait, I’m no spy! Do I look like someone from your world, my Lord? I came here to warn you of a greater danger than your enemies overseas.”

Gorn hesitated, decided he was not buying the story, and angrily shouted at the Guards, “Execute him now!”

The Guards pulled out their metal tipped arrow air guns, grabbed Sen Dar by the back of his shirt, and pointed the ends of the arrows at his head. Sen Dar showed fear for only an instant before his face changed with the surfacing of a new cunning idea.

Appearing grimly forlorn, he pleaded, “Wait, hear me, my Lord Gorn. My name is Sen Dar. Like you, I was a once a ruler, until this hideous Galactic Alliance fleet invaded my planet, captured my kingdom, and killed innocent women and children. One of their ships circles your planet as we speak.”

The planet Maldec was once a thriving populated world before it was blown apart to become the asteroid belt that circles today in the orbit of a planet between planets Mars and Jupiter in our solar system.
